Local church has a new plan for Lent

The Otsego United Methodist Church has decided to try something new during this year’s season of Lent—fill the fellowship hall with crosses from the congregation.

Anne Carlyle and Donna Church have been in charge of the campaign.

The crosses are placed on areas throughout the fellowship hall. Once an area is full, a new one is begun. Right now one area has been filled and another started with the approximately 30 crosses that have been brought in.

Pastor Joe Shaler said the crosses are a great representation of the season leading up to first Palm Sunday, when the church will focus on the cross, and Easter Sunday, when the focus will be on the empty cross.
