Plainwell: Quilting bee
PLAINWELL—Everyone is invited to a Quilting Bee to make quilts for Lutheran World Relief. The series of bees will be Monday, Aug. 13, through Thursday, Aug. 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day at Hope Lutheran Church, 280 12th St at 103rd Ave. (on the corner right next to Christian Neighbors). Enjoy lunch and snacks every day.
Everyone is welcome. It doesn’t matter if you know how to quilt, though organizers certainly need quilters. Other jobs are cutting, ironing seams and tying the quilts as they are done. One needs no experience to do these jobs and people can come for any or all of the time.
Materials will be furnished, but if you wish to bring sheets or blankets for batting or backing, that would be fine. They’ll also have sewing machines, irons and ironing boards, rotary cutters, etc.
LWR is a social agency that provides aid throughout the world (including the USA) in times of disaster and in areas of need. The quilts represent God’s love and yours, and are used by people for warmth, to make a tent for shelter, and even to wrap a baby so the mom can carry it with her.
