I love Japan. Ever since we dropped atomic bombs on their island, they’ve conquered our culture with cars, electronics and anime figures so advanced they preclude fights Americans have about bathroom access.

People need priorities in life. Which is why I am happy to hop aboard all of the latest fads. Did you hear about Hula Hoops? That was in 1958 you say? Guess I need to pay more attention.

“Let’s go catch Pokémon,” said my daughter Flannery.

“Why just one?” I said. “Why not Pokémons, Pokémen, Poképersons ...?”

“They’re the same singular and plural,” she said. “Few have genders.”
