Let's Make It Real
Scott Sullivan
“Sullivan,” The Boss said, glancing around at these items, yesterday. “Yes.” “I’ve got a proposal.” “I just answered.” “I want you to write about the TV show that most shaped your generation.” “What’s in it for me? I mean, Yes, right away!” I said. Why did he pick me for that no-brainer? “Let’s Make a Deal” was, of course, the answer.

New studies show office workers who append moral quotes to their emails or perch religious icons on their desks may pre-empt their bosses from asking them to do things that are unethical.

Reliance on old-fashioned “virtue” may mean you don’t get that big promotion. So I’ve thumb-tacked quotes to my cubicle walls reading:

• “There’s a sucker born every minute.” – P.T. Barnum

• “I can resist anything but temptation.” – Oscar Wilde, and

• “When I’m good, I’m really good. But when I’m bad, I’m better.” – Mae West

I’ve also erected a Donald Trump statue on my desk.
