Blue Star

Natural Light
By:
Scott Sullivan
My years working in Saugatuck-Douglas have been the best of my life. I have learned from friends who are polarizers—ones who try to make their views brighter by painting the others black—and artificial light givers—who try to enhance with a glow that’s not really there. Natural light is all right with me.

Life is good:

• Blue Star Highway, for which this column was named when I came here nine years ago, has been rebuilt by our office.

• New Commercial Record owner Mike Wilcox will continue our commitment to quality journalism.

• It is fall and beautiful. I drove to Dowagiac last weekend to cover the Sandhill Crane Trail Half-Marathon. Then it was home for Gallery Stroll and Cow Hill Yacht Club’s charity Chili Cook-Off. The sun showed colors in full glory.

• XtremeLA landscape architects shared their findings during free sessions Thursday at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts. Top young design professionals nationwide see limitless potential in our resources—human and natural. Who can help but be optimistic?
