Weaver was doing one-man shows playing 19 Shakespeare characters when he died in 2006 at age 81; the duel behind, the next stage ahead.

“All the world’s a stage,” wrote Shakespeare in “As You Like It.” Which got me thinking of Dennis Weaver.

In his time the late actor played many parts: Marshal Matt Dillon’s helper Chester on TV’s “Gunsmoke,” Marshal Sam McCloud on “McLoud” and the dad/wildlife officer on “Gentle Ben” among them.
