Plainwell Community Schools is taking applications to fill two vacancies on the school board.
Board member Kevin Blue resigned at the board meeting, Monday, June 2, and Scott Corbin sent in a resignation letter Tuesday, June 3.
The board is seeking applicants to be appointed to serve out the terms until after the November elections. School board members must be registered voters and live within the school district.
Anyone interested should submit a letter and their resume to Superintendent Susan Wakefield, Plainwell Community Schools, 600 School Drive, Plainwell, MI 49080 by noon on Friday, June 20.
The school board plans to choose the two new board members at a special meeting before the end of the month.
Corbin explained in a resignation letter he and his wife had decided to sell their home in Plainwell and live in Holland because of the location of their jobs. Because of that, Corbin will no longer live in the district and can’t serve on the school board.
“This was not anticipated when I considered running for the school board position three years ago. I did intend to serve the entire four years, however many things have changed since then,” he wrote.
