Monsanto to present check to Otsego

Representatives from America's Farmers Grow Rural Education and the Monsanto Fund will formally present Otsego Public Schools with a $25,000 grant check on Friday, Oct. 24, at 6:30 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium.

The grant was made possible by local farmers who nominated the district for the opportunity. Nominating farmers, teachers and students will be on hand to accept the check.

The grant provided LEGO Education kits to tansform a classroom at Alamo Elementary School and LEGO EV3 kits for eighth-grade students. The products enhance STEM learning in multiple levels of the district.

The funds also provide resources needed to start after-school opportunities for children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Two of these—the FIRST LEGO League for fourth and fifth grades and the FIRST Tech Challenge for sixth and eighth grade—are already underway with competitions schedules later this fall.

District officials said they are excited to celebrate this new opportunity for hundreds of Otsego's students, both in this year and the years to come.
