Business moves from industrial park to downtown Plainwell
Plainwell City Council members approved a site plan for Perceptive Controls Inc. at their Monday, Aug. 11 regular meeting.
The business currently shares a building with another business in the city’s industrial park but growth has led the company to seek a downtown location.
“They outgrew the building,” said clerk Noreen Farmer on Friday, Aug. 15. “One is moving downtown and one is expanding in the industrial park.”
Perceptive Management is moving into the previous Fifth Third Bank at 140 E. Bridge St.
Farmer said the council approved the building remodel, parking lot expansion and some landscaping on the property. A building addition is currently being planned.
“They didn’t get approval for the new addition because they didn’t have plans drawn up,” said Farmer. “They were aware this was needed and will submit them when they are completed.”
She said the company is currently looking for an architect to draw the plans.
The site plan approval was unanimous and Farmer said the council is glad to have the business.
“We’re happy to see them come to Plainwell and fill a building downtown,” she said.
