Police are witholding the name of an elderly driver involved in a five-car accident Friday morning in downtown Douglas.

Witnesses said the woman was driving a black Mercedes mini-van eastbound on Center Street and apparently lost control of the vehicle.

A black Subaru minivan was hit on the corner of Spring Street and black Mercedes sedan about 40 feet east of it. The driver apparently veered north another block east and came to a halt striking two more parked cars -- a silver Buick and red Subaru -- in front of the Center Stage hair salon.

An AMR ambulance transported the woman away for medical care. Police are witholding her name pending notification of family.
