It was a true team effort for the Plainwell boys’ swimming and diving team in its Southwest and Central Michigan Swim League meet against visiting South Haven on Tuesday, Dec. 18.
The Otsego boys’ swimming and diving team put up a gallant effort against Holland Christian, which is ranked first in the Division 3 state polls.
If the Division 3 boys’ swim and dive state finals were a movie, then Otsego’s Brennan Richardson would have been cast as the leading man in terms of Allegan County athletes.
The final score of the Southwest and Central Michigan Swim League boys’ meet between Otsego and Plainwell went to the Bulldogs by a 97-84 final.
It all came down to this.
Through 11 of the 12 events in its Southwest and Central Michigan Swim League meet against Plainwell on Tuesday, Jan. 31, Allegan trailed, 87-82.
The boys’ swimming teams from Allegan, Otsego and Plainwell—along with South Haven—all traveled to Alma on Saturday, Jan. 28.
The outcome of the Southwest and Central Michigan Swim League boys’ meet between Otsego and South Haven on Tuesday, Jan. 17, was never in serious doubt.
Entering the meet-closing 400-yard freestyle relay, Allegan boys’ swim coach Mark Mattox knew his team didn’t have to win the event to secure the victory over Harper Creek on Tuesday, Jan. 17.
The meet between these two schools always brings out the best and the Tuesday, Oct. 28, meet saw some spirited competition.
