Allegan: Ride for a Reason
The Allegan County Central Food Pantry’s fifth annual bike-a-thon “Ride for a Reason—Feel Younger—Fight Hunger” will be Saturday, Aug. 9, beginning and ending in downtown Allegan near Mahan Park on Brady Street.
Volunteer Anne Swartzlander said the starting time and location is new this year so that it could be unified with the Good Times at the Gazebo concert series at Mahan Park.
Two bike tours will leave at 5 p.m. from the park next to the iron bridge. One tour is a 25-mile course with challenging climbs. The other tour is a 10-mile course with moderate climbs.
Bicyclists securing pledges of $30 or more are acceptable in lieu of a registration fee. Pledge money is due the day of the event.
Registration for the bicycling tours begins at 4 p.m. or bicyclists can register online and find course maps at www.alleganrideforarea son.com.
Those who preregister by July 31 will receive a “Ride for a Reason” T-shirt.
