Allegan golf team earns runner-up finish in league
History was made by the Allegan girls’ golf team at the Wolverine Conference Tournament on Wednesday, Oct. 4.
Playing on their home turf at Cheshire Hills Golf Course, the Tigers finished the 18-hole event with a score of 394 to finish runner-up behind Sturgis. Combined with a second-place finish in the jamboree portion of the schedule, Allegan ended up second in the overall standings, marking its best finish in its nine-year history.
The 394 also marked an 18-hole season best for the Tigers.
Morgan Sturman paced Allegan by shooting a low round of 93 to place ninth in the individual standings. She also placed ninth in the individual season standings to earn All-Conference honors.
Emma Franklin joined Sturman in the top 10, shooting a career-best 95 to take the 10th spot.
Hanna Curtiss and Anna Hestera rounded out the scoring for Allegan by shooting 101 and 105, respectively. The pair also earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors for their body of work throughout the conference season.
Hope Lambert finished her day with a 109. And while that score didn’t factor into the team total, it did mark a new 18-hole personal best for the freshman.
