Out of the Basement Office

In my column this week, I lament—as usual—the low voter turnout in the Aug. 5 primary.
While I can understand why people don't bother to go to the polls, I still don't think there are generally any good excuses. I also point out that if you think your one little vote here or there won't make a difference, check out how many people effectively determined the 80th District State House race.
All that, plus a brief look back at the last gubernatorial primary, in 2010. How many votes do you think Saugatuck farmer Randy Brink got then in the race for the GOP nod for State Senate. Check out the Aug. 14 issue of The Allegan County News for that and more. (Plus final, official election results on Page A2.)
