Melvin F. Miller, 93
Melvin F. Miller, 93, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, at Allegan County Medical Care Community in Allegan.
Mr. Miller was born on April 27, 1922, in Cheshire Township, the son of the late Frank and Clara (Haley) Miller.
Mel was a 1940 graduate of Bloomingdale High School. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in the Merchant Marines. He worked 30 years for Rockwell International, retiring in 1977.
Mel was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting and gardening. After gathering his produce and fish, Mel loved to share his good fortune and spent time dropping off these goodies to others. People loved to see him coming through their door, knowing fresh produce and fish were going to be on their dinner menu soon.
Mel is survived by his three children, Greg and Laura Miller, Scott and Ann Miller and Diane and Duane Moore; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene and sister, Grace Mount.
There will be a military graveside service at Mallory Cemetery, on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 5 p.m., with Rory Moore officiating. A time of food and fellowship will be directly following the graveside service at Hartman Conference Center, 690 N. Eastern Drive, Allegan. Interment will be at Mallory Cemetery.
