Maurice V. Deering, 81

Maurice V. Deering, 81, of Allegan, died Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, at his home.
Mr. Deering was born Oct. 31, 1932, in Cheboygan, the son of Maurice and Verna (Vincent) Deering.  
Maurice was a veteran of the United States Army and a recipient of the Purple Heart.  He retired from Rockwell in the late 1980s after 20 years of service.  
He was a member and past Worthy President of the Eagles.  
Surviving are his daughter Linda Deering; two sisters, Ione Hunt and Maurine and Bernie Ockert; and many nieces and nephews.  
He was preceded in death by his wife Margie and brother-in-law James Hunt.  
Friends met with the family on Sunday, Oct. 5, at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel,, where funeral services will be Monday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m. Pastor G. Patrick White will officiate.  
Interment will be with military honors at Poplar Hill Cemetery, Monterey Township.  Memorials may be made to Wings of Hope Hospice, 530 Linn St., Allegan, MI 49010.
