Linden "Lin" Buck, 67
Linden "Lin" Buck, 67, of Thompsonville, Mich., and formerly of Rockford, Mich., passed away at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, surrounded by his loving family following a severe heart attack.
Lin was born Jan. 28, 1948, in Allegan, Leland "Lee" Buck and Josephine "Jo" (Ice) Buck. He spent his childhood and teenage years in Hopkins and was a 1966 graduate of Hopkins High School. He attended Ferris State University.
Lin was fortunate to be able to combine his love of golf with his professional career. He worked for more than 30 years as a sales representative in the golf industry-first with Spalding/Top Flite and for the last 10 years with Callaway Golf. He was a favorite sales person of many golf professionals and it was always a party when "Bucky" came through the door.
The joys of Lin's life were his wife and family, golfing, hunting and fishing, summer days on Crystal Lake in his boat with Janice and playing with his "canine kids," George and Gracie. He enjoyed the beauty and peace of living in northern Michigan.
Linden is survived by and will be dearly missed by his wife Janice (Zimmer) Buck, two sons with Linda (Herp) Buck of Kentwood, Linden II (Jennifer) of Kalamazoo and Brian (Audrey) of Midland; one sister Charlotte (Bruce) Carey of Elgin, Ill.; one brother Edward (Sarah) of East Grand Rapids; four grandchildren, Linden (Trey) Buck III, Samuel, Sydney and Alexandra Buck; aunt Wanda Arndt of Byron Center; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a host of loyal friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Jo Buck; paternal grandparents, Linden and Frieda Buck; and maternal grandparents, Vance and Lena Ice.
A gathering to celebrate Lin's life will be at Crystal Mountain Resort, 12500 Crystal Mountain Drive, Thompsonville, Mich., on Sunday, Aug. 23, from 1 to 4 p.m. Dedication will begin at 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to a scholarship program to assist youth in golf and life skills, The First Tee of Northern Michigan, 600 Highlands Drive, P.O. Box 613, Harbor Springs, MI 49740, www.thefirstteeboynehighlands.org.
