JoAnn May Whisler, 79
JoAnn May Whisler, 79, of Allegan, passed away Friday, Sept. 12, 2014, in Allegan. She was born Aug. 6, 1935, in Hamilton, the daughter of Irvin and May (Truax) Arndt.
JoAnn was a member of Allegan United Methodist Church. She worked for the Allegan Public Schools at Dawson Elementary for 27 years. She enjoyed involving herself with the Allegan County Fair, Food Pantry, Port-A-Beds Camp Group and Avon Palms RV Park where she was a part-time resident in Bowling Green, Fla.
JoAnn is survived by her husband Max, who she married in June of 1955; her children, Ken (DeeAnn) Whisler and Jeff (Jaime) Whisler; her five grandchildren, Melissa (Andy), Nicholas, Benjamin, Samantha (Erik) and Ashton; her three great-grandchildren, Archer, Addison and Aria; her sisters, Joyce Waterman Markes and Nancy Lumber; and her best friend since elementary school, Rachel Wait.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Timothy and her brother William.
Friends visited with the family on Sunday, Sept. 14, at Gorden Funeral Residence, Allegan Chapel. The funeral is Monday, Sept. 15, at 10:30 a.m., at Allegan United Methodist Church. Pastor Robert Lynch will officiate. Inurnment will be at Mallory Cemetery in Trowbridge Township.
