Gary Delano Bronson, 81
Gary Delano Bronson, 81, passed away May 8, 2015, at 12:01 a.m.
Gary D. Bronson was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on Feb. 20, 1934. His father was Charles Delano Bronson. His mother was Willa Lucille Burgess. Gary was the middle child of nine.
Growing up, Gary ran his father's farm while attending school in Carter County Kentucky. He joined the United States Navy at 17 years of age and served during the Korean War on the USS Lloyd Thomas, DDE-764.
After receiving an Honorable Discharge for his first tour of service, Gary married Edith Troxell and had two sons, Doug and Greg. After divorcing Edith, he reconnected and married his childhood friend, Betty Lee McCoy and had two children, Gary Lynn and Gina L. In the spring of 1970, the family moved to Allegan. Here they stayed until both children had graduated. Once their children had left home, they purchased some land in Cheshire Township. This was their last earthly abode.
Over the years, Gary had spent as much time as possible working within his church, his community, but most especially within his own orchard and award winning vegetable garden-especially watermelons and pumpkins. Gary had seven grandchildren (four girls and three boys) and four great-grandchildren (three girls and one boy)
Gary is survived by one sister Gretchen Hall; his sons and daughters-in-law; Gary Douglas Bronson and Jean Bronson of Glasgow, Ky., Gregory Lynn and Glenda Bronson of Felicity, Ohio; his son Gary Lynn Bronson of Allegan; his daughter and son-in-law, Gina L. and David P. Senkus of Jenison; seven grandchildren, Shane Bronson, Keirstan Bronson Goodin, David C. Senkus, Jonathan Bronson, Kayleigh Bronson, Kaitlynn Bronson and Lorna Bronson; and four great-grandchildren.
