Evelyn R. Brenner, 92

Evelyn R. Brenner, 92, of Hopkins, died Monday, May 11, 2015, at the Briarwood Assisted Living in Allegan.
Mrs. Brenner was born Aug. 9, 1922, in Sparta, the daughter of Conrad and Clara Schwartz.
Evelyn graduated from Hopkins High School, Class of 1940. She was a life member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hopkins,where she had played the organ for more than 25 years.  
She was involved in the Michigan State University Extension office and 4-H, and worked many voter polls in Monterey Township. She was a farmer's wife, she loved to garden, can the produce, and helped with the many chores. She also knitted more than 800 baby hats.  
Surviving are her husband Chester Dale Brenner; three children, Nancy Cyrus and her fiancée John West, Janet Dell and Thomas and Kathy Brenner; four grandchildren, Jamie Sue, April, Lee and Nate; two great-grandchildren; her brother Elwood Schwartz; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Howard and Harlow.
Friends met with the family on Wednesday, May 13, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Gorden Funeral Residence, Hopkins Chapel, www.gordenfuneral.com. Funeral services were Thursday, May 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hopkins. Interment was at the church cemetery.  
Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Hospice of Holland.
