Carol Ann Hoover, 77
Carol (Hayes) Hoover, of Allegan, Michigan, has left this world surrounded by her family, Feb. 26, 2020. She was born Nov. 20, 1942, in Chicago, where she resided until 1978.
She was the daughter of Irvin and Dorothy (Goltz) Hayes, both deceased, and sister to Larry (Gloria) Hayes of Chicago, and Fred Hayes of Nashville, Tenn.
Carol leaves behind her husband Victor Hoover, whom she married on Feb. 19, 1972. She is the love of his life. He has taken care of her for the past 48 years and now turns her care over to the Lord until they are together again.
Carol is survived by her four children and their spouses, Susan (Barbie) Hoover of Cape Cod, Maine, Shelly (Ken) Moench of Holland, Victor (Melissa) Hoover of Allegan, and Andrew (Emily) Hoover of Hamilton. Carol had seven grandchildren, Mickaela, Nicholas, William, Tucker, Camden, Brielle (BB), and Faith, and two great-grandchildren, Piper and Everett.
Carol worked as a machinist for Johnson & Johnson in Chicago. After moving to Allegan, she drove school bus for Allegan Public Schools before eventually working at Allegan General Hospital. She retired in 2005 to spend more time with her grandchildren.
After several years of retirement, Carol decided to pursue her interest of working for the Gun Lake Casino. She quickly created a family of friends within the casino and said working there was the best job she had ever had. Her co-workers were especially supportive when she began to decline in health due to her breast cancer diagnosis.
Over her lifetime, Carol touched many people with her positive outlook and sense of humor. She loved camping, crafting, and playing bunco with her friends. She and Victor shared a love of movies, crime drama shows, and most recently, the game show channel. She is adored by her husband and children and her loss will be felt greatly.
Cremation has taken place, and her family will celebrate her life with a private gathering. Her family would like to thank The Wings Home staff for their compassion and comfort.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to The Wings Home, 530 Linn St., Allegan, MI 49010.
