Susan "Sue" Louise Thomas, 67
Susan "Sue" Louise Thomas, 67, passed away Oct. 18, 2014, at home after a yearlong battle with cancer.
Sue was born on Dec. 8, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio to Robert and Virginia Thomas. She grew up in Bay Village, Ohio, worked in Cleveland, Ohio and Chicago, Ill. and upon retirement, in 2005, Sue moved to Saugatuck.
Sue received a Bachelor of Arts degree from De Paul University in 1993 and Master of Liberal Arts degree in 1997.
During Sue's working life she sold computers and computer services. Sue was married to Forest Danson Jr. from 1975 to 1978. After retiring to Saugatuck, Sue kept very active volunteering at the Saugatuck/Douglas Library, Douglas Elementary School Reading Program, Holland Hospital Gift Shop and at All Saints' Episcopal Church where she was a member of the vestry, member of the altar guild, Acolyte and chalice bearer and treasurer of the mission outreach committee.
Sue's passions were reading and all things French. She spent two months in Paris in the spring of 2013 to learn to speak French.
Sue is survived by her sister Judi Thomas of Saugatuck and her cousins, Clewell Smith of Spring Hill, Fla., James Aspinwall of Lakeland, Fla., Julie Kosnik of La Porte, Ind. and Deborah Petrigala of Lakeland, Fla.
Sue was preceded in death by her brother Robert Thomas Jr.
A memorial service to celebrate Sue's life will be at All Saints Episcopal Church in Saugatuck on Nov. 8, at 2 p.m. with a reception in the parish hall to follow.
