Write-in voting details still awaited in Allegan, Wayland
UPDATE: The Allegan County Board of Canvassers has certified the results of the Nov. 4 election. This page has been updated with the results of the write-in votes.
Write-in votes were key for two communities—the Allegan and Wayland school boards—in the Nov. 4 general election. Results were incomplete when The Allegan County News went to press, but we will continue to bring you updated announcements of results as they become available.
In the City of Allegan, at least, results from those two precincts may offer a clue as to how the overall election there will turn out.
The Allegan County elections website showed a total of 504 write-in votes for Allegan Public Schools Board of Education by approximately 1 a.m.
Of those, 296 came from the city precincts.
And of those, incumbent Vickie Knuckles received the most, 98 votes. Recent high school grad Travis Hunziker had 62. Trish Sousley had 42 votes.
Rounding out the other write-ins were Ryan Powers with 39, Lane Sturman with 34 and Ryan Steward with 21.
We’re not sure who will eventually win the seats, but check back here throughout the week as canvassers tally the many write-in votes.
