No ID yet for body found on lakeshore

CASCO TWP.—Police said DNA or dental records would likely be needed to identify a body found along the Lake Michigan shore.

According to the Allegan County Sheriff Department, officers were called Saturday, Nov. 22, just before noon by a man who found the badly decomposed body washed ashore just north of South Haven. The man told police he walks his dog along that stretch of beach every day and hadn’t noticed anything there the day before.

The sheriff department said the body is badly decomposed and may have been in the water for a long time. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday, Nov. 24.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff department (269) 673-0500 and follow the prompts for the detective bureau.
