Hopkins completes quick renovations in time for summer reading program
Hopkins District Library closed for renovations Thursday, June 12, through Saturday, June 14, in order to complete renovations throughout the library.
Librarian Natalie Bazan said the changes were to be "something of a surpises," but the volunteers and library staff were planning on updating children's, pre-teen and junior's fiction area and more.
Two fabric-backed bookcases, art work and a new table were added to the teen area. Bazan said the bathroom was modernized with beadboad, a chair rail, new fiztures, a mirror, new flooring and artwork.
In the junior's section the bookcase was painted with a rainbow theme and a rug, couch, coffee table and new artwork was added along with a deep cleaning.
Finally, a new seating area was added with an electric fireplace, rug, couch and art.
"We had a busy three days with volunteers to get this all done," Bazan said.
The renovations have been completed, and just in time for the library's Summer Reading Program which kicks off today, Monday, June 16.
