Foresters from Consumers Energy helped children properly plant white pine seedlings and answer any questions they had about trees.

Fennville students plant 650 white pines with Allegan Conservation District

Planting trees can be hard work. Planting 650 of them can make for a full morning.

On Friday, April 24, nearly two dozen Fennville High School students teamed with Terri DeRoo’s fourth-grade class to do exactly that.

The day was coordinated by the Allegan Conservation District. Members of that team, Fennville teachers and Consumers Energy staff along with the students split into small groups to reforest a section of the school district’s forest property in the Allegan State Game Area. Each group planted between 50 and 75 trees.
