Armed robbery in Martin leads to apparent suicide

MARTIN—One of a pair of armed robbers who held up the clerk at a gas station Saturday, March 26, apparently killed himself, police said.

The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office said deputies and Michigan State Police responded to the Clark gas station in the Village of Martin after a call to 911 about 3:45 p.m.

A sheriff’s deputy saw a car matching the description of the suspect vehicle in Bradley and turned around to pull it over when the car drove off the road, hitting some signs before it swerved back onto the road momentarily before swerving off again and hitting a barn.

Police said the deputy fired a shot during the process of arresting one of the suspects, but they believe it didn’t hit anyone. The other suspect was found dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot.
