Allegan art show plans creative offerings to help Wings Home
A local art show aims to help raise money for Allegan’s Wings Home, which provides end-of-life care for terminally ill patients in a home-like environment.
The show features the Perrigo Graphics Department; its annual art show will be Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Lake Superior Room B of Perrigo’s EAO East building, 490 Eastern Ave.
Artists will display their work and there will be refreshments to sample and many pieces of art up for sale or auction.
The group of more than 14 includes several artists who have displayed works in ArtPrize.
In addition to original large-scale works of art for viewing and sale, there will be:
Postcard Art: The Graphics Department is making art in miniature with the “Postcard Art” project, new to the show this year. The pieces will use a variety of mediums—collage, textiles, wood, found objects, marker, pencil—all on 4-by-6-inch cards.
Competition: The department will be competing against one another again this year with a “Self Portrait With A Twist” contest. They’ve been charged with creating a 9-by-12-inch self portrait that must be about the artist but not of the artist. Those attending the show vote with $1 votes to select the top three for prizes. Proceeds benefit Wings Home.
Auction: New this year will be a blind auction for handcrafted holiday wreaths. They will be available in a variety of mediums, shapes, sizes and colors. They can be won through blind bidding or through the “buying it now” option for $100. Proceeds for this project also benefit Wings Home.
Cash and checks are accepted at the show.
