Western Days returns to Allegan fairgrounds

Virginia Ransbottom, Staff Writer

The second annual Western Days Rodeo, a free family event at the Allegan County Fairgrounds, is June 20-22, featuring real cowboys, horse riding and bull power.

At least 12 area churches have partnered up with former bull riders Brian Sowle and Chuck Vankeuren of the Rock of Ages Cowboy Revival Ministry to offer a gospel-style rodeo experience.
“For instance, with the Ranch Rodeo, we demonstrate events that still take place on every day ranches and talk about how life is parabled to different activities,” Sowle said. “Jesus talked in parables and this is kind of the same thing.”
Last year’s event brought out about 5,000 people throughout the weekend and Sowle said he expects it to grow this year.
