The 2014 Benefit Ride for Christian Neighbors is planned for Saturday, June 14, at 10 a.m. at Christian Neighbors, 282 12th St., Plainwell, where tours will be available.
A presentation will be given of the donated food and funds to show how Christian Neighbors helps to support the community. Kickstands go up at 10:30 a.m.
The mission of Christian Neighbors is to provide local families in need with food, emergency financial assistance and skill-building education to create self-sufficiency in Plainwell, Otsego, and Martin school districts in Allegan and Kalamazoo counties.
Last year it served 2,381 people and 838 households.
Cost is $20 a bike or a grocery bag with non-perishable food. Cash donations are tax deductible. Items needed on a regular basis are canned fruit, muffin mix, peanut butter, canned chili beans, spaghetti sauce, noodles, pancake mix and syrup, shampoo, canned tomatoes, jelly, juice and soap.
The ride is 59 miles or about 1.5 to 2 hours and is a scenic tour of much of Christian Neighbors’ service area, ending behind Dirty Boyz Motorcycles in the old Harding’s parking lot
