County hosts free scrap tire collection Otsego Township
Allegan County will host a scrap tire collection on Aug. 2 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Otsego Township Hall, 400 16th St., Otsego.
County residents can drop off up to seven car-sized tires or one tractor tire per participant until the trailer is full.
Ben Williams, the Allegan County Recycling Coordinator is coordinating this event for the third consecutive year and expects another good turnout.
“This is a great opportunity to get rid of ‘problem tires’ that have been accumulating on your property or community,” Williams said. “It is important for residents to properly recycle tires when replacing tires.
This collection, one of three across the county, is made possible by a Michigan Department of Environmental Quality Grant through the Southwest Solid Waste
Consortium. The grant will cover up to three semi loads of scrap tires, which could total up to 3,000 tires.
