Tiger bowling teams struggle against Coloma, Brandywine
The Allegan bowling teams traveled to Niles on Saturday, Jan. 31, for a pair of matches against Brandywine and Coloma.
Both of the Allegan teams struggled to keep up with the host teams as the boys’ team dropped their match to Brandywine 29-1 and Colo-ma 16-14. The girls dropped their match to Brandywine 18-12 and Coloma 28-2.
In the boys’ matches, Allegan’s top games came from Craig Holly’s 189 and Cole Evans’ 182 against Brandywine.
Evans and Jordan Lambert shared top bowling honors against Coloma.
While the boys’ team struggled against Brandywine they came back strong in the second match against Coloma.
Allegan coach Don Lamb said, “The boys had a heck of a match against Coloma. Game one went down to our anchor bowlers Cole Evans and Jordan Lambert. Cole and Jordan each bowled 160 and pulled out game one for us 733-729.
“Game two went to the tenth again. This time Cole opens and Coloma’s anchor doubles giving Coloma the win 766-743.
“Now we need both Bakers for the win. For the third time it comes down to the 10th frame. This time Craig Holly steps up and strikes.
“Coloma’s anchor puts it through the nose, but a pin is on the deck and rolls over and hits the remaining pins to give them a strike. Craig must now double up and he throws a great shot. The ten pin attempts to fall but doesn’t leaving us four pins short and we lose game one 159-163.
In game two, we come back and win it 149-134, but it wasn’t enough and we lost 16-14.”
The Allegan girls never quite got untracked against either team in dropping their matches.
