Hawkeyes use strong defensive effort to upend Wayland

Leo Martonosi

Neither Hamilton nor Wayland backed down when the two Allegan County opponents collided in a non-league girls’ soccer match on Friday, May 9.
“It was a very physical game,” said Hamilton first-year coach Lauren Stieper.
Ben Sleeman, who is in his fourth season at the helm of the Wildcats, echoed those words.
“Both teams played hard and wanted it bad,” he said.
The Hawkeyes never trailed in their 4-1 verdict over the host Wildcats.
