Hawkeyes claim district golf crown

Jason Wesseldyk

As evidenced by a state championship as a freshman and a state runner-up finish a year ago, Hamilton junior golf standout Nick Carlson knows how to exploit any advantage.
And that’s exactly what he did in a Division 2 district on Wednesday, May 21.
Playing at the familiar Clearbrook Golf Club in nearby Saugatuck, Carlson shot a three-under-par 69 to take top individual honors and lead the Hawkeyes to a district championship.
Hamilton finished with a score of 312, which bested second-place Grand Rapids Christian by eight strokes.
