Bulldogs hold off Hopkins to win district soccer crown

Each year before the start of the season, Otsego girls’ soccer coach Thom Schacher and his players meet to set team goals for the upcoming campaign.
This year’s meeting was a bit unique.
“Our team is so young and we have so many players new to the varsity level, I really didn’t know what to expect from the season,” said Schacher, whose roster includes only three seniors and three juniors. “So we weren’t sure what kind of goals would be realistic.”
In retrospect, the Bulldogs should have listed winning a district championship as one of their goals.
Because Otsego did just that, posting a 3-0 win over Hopkins in a Division 3 district final at Bulldog Stadium on Saturday, May 31.
