Robert F. Roper, 65

Robert Frederick (Bob) Roper, 65, passed away on May 29, 2014, at his home after a brief illness. He was born in Lansing on Feb. 5, 1949. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Rescorla.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 31 years Kathleen Roper; sons, Benjamin (Katie and grandson Charlie) and Robert (Bo) Roper (Kristen); parents Phyllis and Jerry Roper and mother-in-law Thelma Beelen; sisters, Cynthia (John) Raven and Catherine (Gary) Marshall; brothers, Jim and David Roper; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Bob's love of nature led to his occupation as a landscaper, which he enjoyed for 41 years. He loved the challenge of creating beautiful work with his good friend and partner, Brand Dykstra.
He was devoted to and adored by his family and friends. He lived his life with dignity, love and optimism. Bob will be remembered for his warm smile and kind-hearted nature.
A celebration of life open house will be Sunday, June 8, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Saugatuck Yacht Club, 15 Park St., Saugatuck.
