Police are looking for a driver who hit a pedestrian just after midnight and apparently fled.

According to Michigan State Police, the crash happened Monday, July 7, about 12:15 a.m. on 142nd Avenue near US-131 in Dorr Township.

Police said witnesses told them a car heading west hit a 23-year-old Wayland man who was walking along the shoulder of the road. Another motorist stopped to help him, police said, while he was lying in the road. The man, whose name was not released, was taken to Metro Hospital by Wayland EMS with what police said appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Police would like the public’s help in identifying the car, described as a dark-colored passenger car and last seen headed west toward Dorr. The car is missing its passenger-side mirror and may have other damage along the passenger side.

Police are asking anyone who saw the crash or recognizes the vehicle to call state police at (269) 792-2213 or (517) 241-8000.
